Hi. Iā€™m Tess (they/them).

My training style is relaxed, collaborative, and practical. I love working with introverts and folks who arenā€™t ā€œgym people.ā€ I have 10 years of experience collaborating with medical professionals to help people with complex injury history, chronic pain, or trauma reclaim their strength and feel more at home in their body.

Learn to move well, lift heavy, and feel more at home in your body.

My body storyā€¦

I was the nerdy kid who quit ballet because my feet hurt and took marching band so I could be exempt from gym class. For much of my life, my body was just the thing carrying my head around. In my mid-20s, I finally discovered that I had a body and created a relationship with it. Youā€™ll now find me lifting, backpacking, hiking, climbing, running, and paddleboarding.

I think for so many of us, we just need a little help finding that part of ourselves. I feel like somehow I've learned how to read a treasure map. I am so grateful to be able to help people navigate their own mysterious body landscape.

Tessā€™ Background & Credentials

National Academy of Sports Medicine

I'm proud to be certified through NASM as a personal trainer.

Yoga Tune UpĀ®

December 2013 I completed the Level 1 Yoga Tune UpĀ® training. It completely changed my personal practice and teaching style. It inspired me to dig into anatomy and soak up all of the information I could about how bodies work.

Yoga Alliance RYT-500

I took my 200hr & 300hr vinyasa trainings through Three Sisters in New York City. I love that they bring specialized teachers in to cover topics like Pranayama, Ayurveda, anatomy, meditation, trauma, etc. I feel like I got the most well-rounded, exciting 200hr possible.

Progressive Calisthenics

I freaking love bodyweight movement. Pushups, pistols and levers...I get so excited for all of it. It's incredibly empowering to own every shape your body could possibly make. It's an endless chase, and I'm so game.

RKC Hardstyle Kettlebell Instructor

Kettlebells are on my shortlist of favorite tools. I love using bells to help my client improve strength, increase power and build life-long movement skills. I feel so fortunate to be a part of the RKC / Dragon Door family.

Gil Hedley Somanautics

This 6 day human dissection workshop was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I got to explore under the skin at my own pace, moving through each layer of the body. Nothing compares to letting your curiosity take over and diving into pure magic.
